A sweetbeginning with love, care and calm

Becoming a parent can be both the most wonderful experience as well as being the most hardest thing we do in our lifetime. Whether you are at the very beginning of the journey, a second time parent or if like me you are a little crazy and are on baby number 5 or beyond my mission is for it to be a sweetbeginning with love, care and calm. Let’s take a look at why I offer love, care and calm to each and every service I provide for families.

What’s love got to do with it?

Did you know that you can communicate your love to your baby through touch? A baby’s sense of touch at birth is the most developed of the senses, they feel safe and secure in your arms and most of all they feel your love. The first 1000 days of your baby’s life is when the brain grows the most allowing for so many emotional responses to occur. During this time you can grow your baby with love creating such a wonderful connection and helping him to go on to make loving relationships with others as he grows.

My aim is to support and nurture parents as you discover the benefits of nurturing touch together with the importance of bonding and creating a lifetime of love with your baby. Sweetbeginnings is where connection amongst families grows through responsive care, love, nurturing touch and positive interactions. Feeling loved and supported enables us to feel confident and empowered it also enables children to become independent and happy and secure in their sense of self.

It also helps that I love and adore what I do, teaching love really is a thing!

Why do you care?

Both infant mental health and maternal mental health are a priority here at Sweetbeginnings having experienced post natal depression myself I value the need for how we care for new parents and their babies. For baby the emphasis is on positive touch, communicating your love and responding to your baby’s needs. Here I take a holistic approach to each and every baby’s uniqueness and respecting your relationship with your baby. The emphasis on responding to your baby is within each service, responding positively helps your baby to feel safe and secure and trust that you will be there for him.

Caring for new parents is so important especially in today’s times as we have lost that sense of community. The saying “it takes a village to raise a child” is so very true, mothers need mothering too, in some cultures the mother is cared for and treated like a goddess for 40 days. Meals are prepared, the house and other children taken care of by the local community. However in the West mothers are often left to carry on leading their lives with the added responsibility of a new baby, it’s so much pressure on her and dad too.

My aim therefore is to provide support and nurture parents too whether it’s coming to a class to enjoy a hot cup of tea or me holding your hand as you support your little ones sleep. Caring for you in your new role is something I love to do, seeing your confidence grow is incredibly special to see.

Calm really with a new baby?

Becoming a parent can in itself be quite noisy and chaotic at times and no I’m not talking about the crying here! There is so much outside noise and everyone from professionals, family, friends, neighbours and even the checkout lady at the supermarket are all ready to give you their advice, opinion and views on parenting. When it comes to parenting literally everyone claims to be an expert, though there is only one expert when it comes to your baby and that expert is you the parent.

We are living in a time in the western world where we have information overload, we are leading busy lives and so often we are living away from our families or home town. The baby industry is full of so many gadgets for baby, do we really need them? We buy into it as we are told they will make our lives easier. So many parenting books and with google at the push of a button comes so much conflicting advice. From the moment you discover you are expecting your little one you are bombarded daily which often leads to confusion and even feelings of failure.

At Sweetbeginnings I offer you your space of calm where you can just be in the moment, breathe away the worries and know that whatever you say you will not be judged. I am here to support and nurture you whether it be learning the beautiful art of baby massage or enabling your family to get the sleep you all need. You will not hear the word should, you will be respected as your baby’s expert and leave feeling confident and calm and more connected to your baby.

Lots of love, care and calm Claire xx
